The Big "8"th Birthday

Alex is turning 8 tomorrow.. I can't believe he was born that long ago- my, how time flies. Yesterday we had his birthday party and it was a lot of fun. Alex told me three or four months ago that he wanted to have it at the Hill Aerospace Museum. I tried to get him to pick something a little closer but that was not to be, and after today I am glad we went there. He invited seven friends and only five were able to make it- Gabe, Stockton, Ben, Jaden and Nathan. The Aerospace Museum is very fun and entertaining, all the boys loved it and I would have to say it was the easiest birthday party to date. Even though the drive was almost 45 min. each way I can honestly say those boys had a wonderful time. One more party done with, much to mom's joy.

St. George Trip- Top Ten

The kids and I drove down to St. George last week for a little summer vacation with Grandma and Grandpa. (My parents have a 2nd home down there and so we went down with them.) Thank heavens for my folks they were a ton of help with the kids. I drove myself and the kids down and boy did it bring back my days at Ford Credit - (I was their Wholesale Auditor and I drove up to 8 or 9 hours some days). Bryan flew into Las Vegas on Friday and so we picked him up there and saw the sights. We had a fun week and as always its good to get away from the daily routine at home.

My trip top ten:
10. Playing lots and lots of "Go Fish" with my kids.
9. Going swimming with the kids and having the pool all to ourselves everytime. ( It was 107 degrees which may explain why no one else was swimming- go figure!)
8. Going shopping with my mom Saturday afternoon while Bryan and Grandpa took the kids to the pool.
7. Going to the Ethyl M. Chocolate Factory and Cactus Gardens, Lion Habitat at MGM, Fantasy Faire games for the kids at Excaliber and eating dinner at the Star Trek Restaurant at the Hilton. (Bryan and I are not really knowledgeable about Star Trek but my dad thought it would be a fun place to take the kids. I think the boys really liked it, but the costumes did scare Kate a bit.) It was a fun experience.

The boys in M&M world, we got to watch a really cool three D movie with Red and Yellow M&M.

6. Eating at In & Out Burgers three, yes three, times. (Pathetic, I know, but I absolutely love their hamburgers and fries.)
5. Taking the kids to the Rosenburch Museum in St. George ( they have dead animals that have been stuffed and put on display- it is pretty cool, and they have a little area for the kids to play safari). Driving back to my parents place afterwards Nicklas said " That was not so fun."- Typical Nick remark if you know him at all.

Grandpa and the kids.

The kids playing in the playroom. It had animals you could touch and a treehouse also.

4. Spending the entire week with Grandma and Grandpa. (Thanks Mom and Dad for putting up with all us and helping me with the kids- we love you!)

3. Grandma and Grandpa taking Alex and Nick to the St. George
minor league baseball game while Kate and I stayed behind
and watched "Cinderella".

2. Not making dinner the entire week. ( I did not have a child tell me once that they hated it or the food was gross.)

1. My dad rocks. My dad let my mom and I go out to dinner and to the Tuachan production of "The Sound of Music". We ate at an Italian Restaurant and the play was fabulous. Dad got pizza for him and the kids and they had a movie night. He watched all three of my kids all by himself. Thanks Dad - you are the best and I love you.

Camping with Dad

The boys went camping over the 4th of July weekend with their dad and grandpa. First, I must say what a great dad Bryan is. He took a great deal of time figuring out the things they would do for 2 full days so that the boys would not be bored. The greatest thing they found to do was a GPS treasure hunt - the boys seriously loved it and it was so fun they did the second, longer one, that required them to drive around to the different locations. Bryan took the boys fishing at Strawberry Reservoir on Saturday which I believe was more for him but that's Ok. They rented a small boat to fish from and at the end of the trip when Nicklas was asked about his favorite part he said it was peeing into a water bottle on the boat..( isn't that fabulous). Can't wait to tell that story to his future wife one day. They really had a great time and had some boy bonding- they are looking forward to next time.

Alex fishing! He said he caught a real big fish- (with a little help from dad)!

The boys watching a video before bed!...

I Luv it!

Kate's new phrase of the week is "I luv it!"

She found a leaf on the ground, picked it up, kissed it an said "I luv it!"

She was giving me a big Kate hug, saw my dangling earring- kissed it and said, "I luv it"

"I luv it!" is simply her favorite newest thing to say and it is incredibly adorable every time.

A Day at the Zoo

How is it that every child loves the zoo? Animals are just so fascinating.. got to love that. A couple of weeks ago we went to the zoo with my mom and dad, and my sister and her kids. It was my nephews, Preston and Jordan's birthday. They turned seven and I still can't believe they are that old. Why is it kids grow up so fast- I am starting to feel really old.
It is always a better trip to the zoo with lots of helpers. Kate walked practically the entire zoo on her own two little legs- it was adorable. My boys always enjoy the zoo and they were very good and loved being there with their cousins.

Grandpa and Kate!

Boys being boys!

Alex, Preston, Hayden, Nicklas and Kate in the insect building.

We had a wonderful afternoon and the kids had a wonderful time... It's always great to spend time with family.
