Conversations with Kate

This was our conversation with Kate last night on the way home from baseball.

Kate: Mommy,mommy!

Me: What?

Kate: Birdie Poop!
Ali, Ali!!

Alex: What?

Kate: Birdie Poop!
Icky, Icky!

Nick: What?

Kate: Birdie Poop!
Daddy, Daddy!

Bryan: What?

Kate: Birdie Poop!

By this time we are all laughing our heads off. Yes there was indeed Birdie Poop on the side window of the van- and we all enjoyed having Kate share this information with us.
Gotta love those two year olds.

Pretty as a Princess

Can I say more!

My Two Robin Hoods

I just came across this photo from a few weeks ago and have to post it. Bryan made the boys these bows because Alex had to dress up for his book report as Robin Hood. They still have them and think they are look way cool with their bows their dad made them.

Preschool Program

Nicklas had his Preschool program last night. It was so cute, all those little 4 and 5 year olds singing for their parents and families. He was very proud of himself of course. He sang the song very well and above is a picture of him with his friend Rhett. Way to go Nicklas!

Our Mountain Adventure

On Sunday afternoon we decided to go up to Wasatch State Park for a picnic and some fishing. It is a favorite summer afternoon activity of our family ( especially Bryan ). For those of you that have never been up there - it is in Midway and it is rather beautiful. We invited Bryan's dad, Max and our neighbors the Lindsay's ( just Pat and Gabe could make it).

We had a great time fishing, feeding the ducks, hunting golf balls and watching the kids play.

Kate is quite the funny when she fishes. She can barely hold up the fishing pole but she freaks out if anyone tries to help her. Here she is with her first fish ever (thanks to a lot of help from dad). She sure thought it was fabulous though.

Nicklas fished for a little bit, but was a little bothered by the fact that he can't throw the line out on his own. After getting frustrated by the whole thing he gave up about 10 minutes later. That's O.K though- Alex never even fished that day.

Here is Gabe, he caught a pretty good one. He was having a great time fishing and by far had the most patience for it. Way to go Gabe!!

Here are the boys playing some Frisbee golf.. They had a blast and Alex and Gabe tied. They were all quite good at it and it was really funny to watch them play.

Kate had some fun running around
on the playground. She is a little to
fearless I'm afraid to say but boy is she
a cutie. I guess she'll be keeping me
mighty busy for the next few years.

About 5:00 we all decided it was time to head home and that was when the real adventure began. We got stuck on I-80 just past Park City in a horrible traffic mess. There were about 10 semi's pulled off to the side and traffic was not moving. Bryan decided we should just turn around and go back toward Midway and head down Provo Canyon. Pat decided to stick it out on I-80. Unfortunately when we got to Provo Canyon an police officer was there turning everyone back around. Needless to say we were a little distraught. ( Later we found out there were 2 horrible accidents in both canyons and boy were they causing some traffic woos for travelers) With a little direction from Pat we were eventually able to get past the traffic on I-80 and get home at 8:15. And to make matters worse poor, sweet little Kate got car sick and threw up on herself coming down the Parleys. It was quite an adventure to say the least but at least we had a wonderful few hours up in the mountains.

Happy Mother's Day!

I just wanted to wish my mom and mother in law a Happy Mothers Day and let them know I love them and appreciate all they do for me and my family. I also want to wish all my girlfriends a Happy Mothers Day! You are all wonderful mothers and a good example for me.

I was woken up today by my two beautiful boys wishing me a Happy Mothers Day and giving me some very precious gifts they had for me. Alex wrote me a very nice letter and Nicklas made me a flower out of some paper he had cut up (all by himself). It was rather adorable and priceless to say the least. I love my family very much and feel very blessed to be a mother.

Girlfriends Rock

I had a wonderful girlfriend night on Wednesday. My friend Michelle and I went furniture shopping and out to dinner and had a marvelous time. Girls nights are the best, there is nothing better than a little girl talk and enjoying a good meal together. I feel very blessed and fortunate to have such fun and caring girlfriends. They make me a better person.
I have only in the last couple of years learned to appreciate just girl time. I love my husband dearly and would normally be just as happy spending time alone with him as with anyone, but lately I have come to truly love my girlfriend time. One, you have to have the right girlfriends, which I can say I most certainly have. Second, you have to make time to get together with the girls on a somewhat regular basis. Lastly, if you can accomplish both these things girlfriend nights rock.
I am definitely grateful to have my girlfriends and I love having a little girl time to look forward to every once and a while. Girlfriends are the best!!!

" I Really got a Hit"

Alex got his first hit in kid pitch baseball!! Hooray!! Alex has been happy to not swing at the majority of ball pitched to him in hopes of getting walked, (better than striking out to a seven year old). Last week he asked his dad to buy him a batting helmet, his dad quickly replied that he would be happy to buy him one once he got a hit. At that Alex sadly said "ok, that might take all season".
Alex decided he would have to swing more to get a hit. So at Mondays game he decided to watch for a good pitch and swing at it. His first at bat he swung once and hit a foul and then swung a second time for his final strike. Second up to bat he got one foul hit and then hit a beautiful one straight toward second base. We all cheered so loud - it was great. When grandma went to the dugout to congratulate him he said to her " I can't believe I hit it". If that isn't priceless I don't know what is.

Autism Walk- May 3rd

Last Saturday our family participated in Utah's Walk Now for Autism walk. It was a great experience and very exciting to see the outpouring of support from family and friends. I personally would like to thank all of you who donated to our team and let you know I appreciate your support.
My sister's three older boys have autism and she wanted our entire family to participate. So our team consisted of her family, my family, my brother and his family and my mom and dad. We also had a friend of my sister and I growing up who joined our team and ended up raising alot of donations through her work. I am very proud of my sister and all she does to take such good care of her boys. She is very involved in their education and doing what is best for them.
We had a great time at the walk and were amazed at the very large turn out seeing as this is the first year the walk has taken place in Utah. After the walk my dad took us all to Hires for a fun lunch. It was a really good day and I appreciate the opportunity my family and I had to learn and grow from it. I hope to see us make this a yearly tradition.
